Barry's fabulous Alvis at Crow Nest (not sure which model, and it's not the best photograph!). This really is gorgeous...I wonder if the unpainted bonnet was the inspiration for Leeds Corporation's half cab buses which had the same feature???

So what makes a car a classic?

Lots of argument about that...some say it has to be 20 years old, others suggest the design must pre-date 1980. To an old so and so like me, the 20 year rule means that cars I consider to be quite modern have become classics. But why not? Cars aren't designed to last that long!

And then there's the question of so called "modern" classics, such as the Nissan Figaro, the Toyota Will (ever seen one of those?), the MG RV8 and, come to that, the MGF? Do we allow them into shows? Of course we do. Everyone's welcome in the YTCC, even Southerners.

We have meetings at Horbury Working Men's club on the third Monday of each month with activities as diverse as a junk sale and a talk about Uganda, quiz nights, Five shows a year.

Join us! Only £10 per year, you don't need a car anyway. Get an application form here

And happy Classic Motoring!
